American Council of the Blind
The American Council of the Blind strives to improve the well-being of blind and visually impaired people by elevating the social, economic, and cultural levels of blind people and by improving educational and rehabilitation facilities and opportunities.
American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)
AFB seeks to expand possibilities for people with vision loss by broadening access to technology; elevating the quality of information and tools for professionals who serve people with vision loss; and promoting independent and healthy living for persons with vision loss by providing them and their families with relevant and timely resources.
Blindness Resource Center
The Blindness Resource Center offers many resources, including more than forty links to other websites, for people with visual disabilities.
Bookshare.org
Bookshare.org increases access to digital books for the community of visually impaired and otherwise print disabled individuals. This online community enables book scans to be shared, thereby leveraging the collections of thousands of individuals who regularly scan books.
Ron Marriage Blind Links
A portal site with links to online information for blind persons about such topics as adaptive technology, advocacy and training, books and magazines, Braille, veterans' issues, employment, medicine, mobility, and federal agencies.
National Federation of the Blind (NFB)
The NFB helps blind persons achieve self-confidence and self-respect and acts as a vehicle for collective self-expression by the blind. It provides public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, adaptive equipment, advocacy services, and support for blind persons and their families.
National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS)
Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS administers a free library program of Braille and audio materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the United States by postage-free mail.
Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)
RFB & D offers materials for anyone who cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual, perceptual, or other physical disability.
